HyperDimension Neptunia Rebirth 2 had a lot of DLC, which made me excited, because I loved the first one. The DLC was awesome, but it was honestly a little too awesome.

The first DLC I got was a special weapon, some armor, and accessories with a few crafting plans. I’ve always liked using DLC weapons, because they usually offer some cool starting benfits. However, this DLC weapon had the same stats as the end game weapons from the first game.

That’s right. Right off the bat, the DLC weapon and armor pretty much gave me the stats of a level 70 character. I was killing everything in one shot. And that’s kind of boring.

It may seem silly for me to be complaining, especially because I’ve written articles about the fact that I want ultimate weapons to be more than just a trophy. It’s not that I don’t want to kill everything in one hit, it’s that I don’t want that ability to be handed to me. It’s so much more satisfying if I had to grind up my level or finish a whole game to get to that point. And of course, I did have to a choice in whether I’d use the weapons or not. But after paying for them, of course I’m going to use them for at least a little while.

Why would a DLC give you end game stats? I don’t get it. DLC is meant to add to a game - not break it to the point where you could beat the whole thing in your sleep. I just felt the need to rant about it. It was my birthday, after all. How rude.

Hopefully the next DLC won’t allow me to run through half a game in five minutes. Where’s the fun in that?
