The new Easter Egg gives the mannequins properties, not unlike Boo from Super Mario Bros. Whenever a player stares at the mannequins, they freeze solid, but when a player turns their back, the mannequins attack with deadly force, closing the ground almost instantly. This bonus activity is something every Call of Duty player should experience.
Luckily for you, you’re about to learn how it’s done.
Note: As I will be referencing the original Easter Egg and my article regarding it, I highly recommend you read that article before getting started here. The original challenge is much easier to accomplish and will give you a better understanding of how to complete this version.
Step One: Launch a Custom Game + Bring a Friend
Much akin to the original Easter Egg (EE), the “Freeze Frame” EE (dubbed by, presumably, the original YouTube Content Creator to post the Easter Egg) requires a private game. It would be really cool to activate an EE of this stature during an online game, but we simply can’t. Besides, the challenge to activate the mannequins would never be accomplished with the enemy team trying to attack you the entire time.
Speaking of that challenge, you’ll either need to be extremely quick on your feet or bring a friend and still be a little quick on your feet to activate the mannequins in time. More on that below.
Create a private match under the Custom Games tab in the multiplayer menu. If you’re inviting friends, do so at this time. Class selection isn’t as dire this time around because the mannequins won’t attack relentlessly. That being said, it would be wise to bring a weapon with extended magazines so you’ll have less trouble with the challenge.
Step Two: The Challenge
In the original Easter Egg challenge had players rush around to all 28 mannequins and shoot their heads off within two minutes. This time around, players need to do twice the shooting in the same amount of time.
Rush around to all 28 mannequins and blow off all of their arms with a steady stream of gunfire. Keep in mind that there is a timer on the challenge. If you can’t destroy 56 robot arms in the first two minutes of the match the game will need to be restarted. This is where having a friend comes in handy (Ha-ha, get it? Handy?).
Arms must be shot off at the shoulder. When you hit an arm in the right spot it will make a sickening crunch (the same noise when you shoot off heads for the original challenge). Once all of the arms are detached a loud bell will ring in the distance (again, similar to the original Easter Egg), then the fun begins!
Step Three: Enjoy Yourself!
Instantly following the bell, mannequins will begin spawning out of nowhere and chasing you down. All you have to do to stop them is look them in the eye, just like Boo in Super Mario!
It certainly adds an extra creepy factor to the original Easter Egg, which just makes the I-Robots attack. Hearing the approaching footsteps of a mannequin is enough to send shivers down your spine. To consistently turn around and notice that one creepy bugger is getting closer… and closer… is terrifying! I highly recommend you grab a buddy and head into Nuk3town to have some fun.
