Those who own CoD: Modern Warfare could get in on their downloads (and the game) earlier today, but those without the base game have to wait until 12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT to start their downloads and get ready to duke it out in AAA battle royale style.
How to Download Warzone if You Own Modern Warfare
If you already own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and have it installed, it should prompt you to patch the game to add Warzone to the main menu. The Classified option will change to Warzone, after a hefty download of around 20GB.
It really is that simple if you already own the base game — but it’s almost as easy if you don’t. The only difference is the size of the download, and when you can start; it’s not like the starting time affects much but today.
About Incoming Transmission
If you hop into the game and see ‘Incoming Transmission’ when you select Classified in the main menu, it means you are able to download Warzone.
Exit the game and download the update to start playing.
How to Download Call of Duty: Warzone Otherwise
Whether you want to play on PC, PS4, or Xbox One, you can get in on the Warzone action even if you do not own Modern Warfare. Just be ready to dump over 80GB into the download.
Search for Call of Duty: Warzone on the PlayStation Store for PS4, or Xbox Store for Xbox One and start the download at 12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT. You’ll need Xbox Live Gold to play the game, though PS Plus isn’t required.
If you’re planning on playing on PC, you’ll need to connect your Call of Duty account to Battle.net to get started within the same timeframe.
